Abstract

The purpose of the study is to investigate the qualities of female cyclists’ experience in how their leisure facilitation and serious leisure develop while participants in bicycle. This study uses a qualitative approach to analyze women bicyclists’ experiences in detail, and in particular, uses phenomenological research methods to derive the patterns of participants’ experience. The in-depth interviews with six research participants were conducted and analyzed. The results of this study are follows. Firs, it were analyzed into three high categories of leisure facilitation factors: intrinsic factor, interpersonal factor and structural factor. Second, in terms of serious leisure, it derived six factors: endurance, professionalism, personal efforts, lasting benefits, identity, and uniqueness from participants’ interview. In the study, the findings showed that female bicyclists made efforts to approach cycling professionally and creating relationships with serious leisure.
