Abstract

The article presents an overview of the materials that appeared in Soviet newspapers and magazines within three months, caused by the death of F. Sologub in December 1927. The theses of G. Adamovich and V.A. Rozhdestvensky, summarizing the obituary material in the Soviet press, are checked. The first news of the event appeared in the “Krasnaya Gazeta”, on its pages the funeral and the events planned by the Leningrad branch of the Writers’ Union to perpetuate the memory of the writer were covered in detail. In addition, obituaries were placed in various publications:” Leningradskaya Pravda”, “Izvestia”, “Ogoniok”, “Zhizn’ iskusstva”, etc. Attention is drawn to the attempt of almost every writer to protect the name of Sologub from oblivion, despite the alienness of the writer of revolutionary modernity. Among the materials, the obituary of Z.Ya. Shteinman stands out, in which, although Sologub’s talent is recognized, the official position regarding the “public face of the late writer” is explained in detail.
