Abstract
Opinions of various scientists on the concept and meaning of assessment of evidence are considered. Evaluation of evidence, without which it is impossible to conduct a preliminary investigation, judicial proceedings, make lawful and sound procedural decisions and the correct application of the law, are analyzed. It is proved that the lack of sufficient methodological and terminological basis leads to judicial errors.
