Abstract

Objectives: This study analyzed the influence of self-esteem and sociality on the professionalism of dental hygiene students. Methods: Two hundred students in the third and fourth years of the dental hygiene department were analyzed using SPSS WIN 22.0. Results: There was a significant positive correlation between dental hygiene students’ self-esteem and sociality and their professionalism in the dental hygiene department. In addition, social self-esteem, academic self-esteem, and sociality were found to have a statistically significant effect as factors influencing dental hygiene professionalism. Conclusions: In the future, establishing an efficient strategy to improve the dental hygiene profession is suggested by implementing education programs that can increase the self-esteem and sociality of dental hygiene students to increase their competence as professional dental hygienists after graduation
