Abstract

The article considers the issues of phonetic interference in the Russian speech of the Iranian students who study Russian as a foreign language. The author provides a partial comparison of the phonetic systems of the contact languages and identifies possible penetration of the elements of the native and English languages into the Iranians’ Russian speech. The paper analyses typical phonetic errors that occur in the Russian speech of the Iranian students who study Russian as a second foreign language. The findings allow the author to identify the basic causes of phonetic interference in the Russian speech of the Iranian students.
