Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide basic data of putting instructional guide by confirming the distance and direction of the ball according to the contact point during the putting stroke. In this experiment, 20 balls were stroked in Sweet spot, Hill, and Toe positions using a pendulum putting machine that can adjust the size of the swing at an agle. One-way ANOVA with repeated measure was performed in SPSS 23.0 Statistical program, and the results of post hoc tests were obtained by LSD.
The difference in the distance of putting was shown according to the impact point (p<.000), and Sweet spot appeared the longest on X-axis by post hoc tests. The second was Hill then the third was Toe.
The difference in the direction of putting was shown according to the impact point (p<.000), and Toe was longer than Sweet spot on Y-axis. Then Toe was longer than Hill on Y-axis.
To sum up the results, it is considered that the impact point affects both distance and direction of the ball, and the practice of improving the accuracy of putting impact is helpful in improving the putting skill.
