Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine the integrative potential of the “soft power” policy pursued by the Republic of Turkey in Central Asia. The article discusses formation of the Turkish concept “soft power” and reasons for its use in Central Asia. The role of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) and the International Organisation of Turkic Culture (TÜRKSOY) in implementation of the “soft power” policy in the region is identified. The study is novel in that it is the first to determine the role of the international organisations TİKA and TÜRKSOY in carrying out the Turkish policy of “soft power” in Central Asia. As a result, it is proved that this policy has a considerable integrative potential.
