Introduction

The events of the Ukrainian revolution of the second half of the 17th century are among the most significant in the history of the Ukrainian people, which have left a significant mark on its historical and national consciousness. They are most prominent in both Ukrainian and foreign studies of the Ukrainian history. This is especially true of the Polish historical science, for which the events of the mid-seventeenth century are important in the study of the past of Poland itself. The purpose of the article is to highlight the peculiarities of the approaches of Polish historians of the first half of the twentieth century in the studies of the role of the peasant factor among the causes of the Ukrainian revolution of the second half of the 17th century
