Abstract

The purpose of the article is to present the concept of the history of Azerbaijan on the basis of a critical analysis of Azerbaijani school history textbooks. The task was set to identify the main approaches of Azerbaijani authors to the issues of the "historical territory of Azerbaijanis", their origin and formation, as well as claims to the territory of neighboring peoples. The work uses the historical-critical method. As part of the latter, an attempt was made to identify the consistent distortion of information from historical sources in Azerbaijani textbooks, and its motives, while highlighting both the true meaning of the mentioned information and presenting new information demonstrating the falsifications of Azerbaijani authors.
