Abstract

At the current stage of the development of medicine, the category of rare diseases includes nosological subtypes with a clear clinical picture, diverse in etiology and severity of the clinical course, as well as undiagnosed idiopathic conditions, which have the main feature – rare prevalence, determined by the epidemiological threshold. This year, the 11th edition of the European Conference on Rare Diseases and Orphan Products (ECRD) 2022, organized by EURORDIS and ORPHANET, took place in Belgium from June 27 to July 1. The main slogan of this event is the possibility of implementing the management of rare diseases. ECRD 2022 was an unparalleled opportunity to network and share invaluable knowledge with hundreds of stakeholders in the rare disease community – patient advocates, policy makers, researchers, clinicians, healthcare professionals, European health leaders, scientists, regulatory bodies. Special attention of this event was devoted to the problem of rare diseases, their neonatal screening, availability of personalized treatment of orphan diseases in Ukraine.
