Abstract

The purpose of the research is to identify the features characterising economic activities and patterns of historical and economic development in Sevastopol during the second defence of the city amid the Great Patriotic War. Scientific novelty of the research lies in undertaking an interdisciplinary examination of Sevastopol economic life during the war period with the involvement of methods of historical and economic sciences. As a result, the researchers have determined final results and examined the process of carrying out the main, top priority economic tasks that were dealt with by Sevastopol city authorities and the military command during the second defence of the city. In particular, the authors have studied regulatory and legal documentation, as directed by which the urban economy was adapted to wartime needs, production levels, conditions and mode of operation of the city enterprises, issues of providing medical care in the wartime setting.
