Abstract

The purpose of the article is to identify the main factors determining the demographic picture of Nagorno-Karabakh in the 1940s-1950s. The objectives of the study are to present the demographic consequences of the Patriotic War, the resettlement of the Azerbaijani population and the deportation of the Armenian population in 1949․ One of the objectives of the study is to present the manifestations of the indirect demographic policy pursued by the Azerbaijani authorities in the region. The study was conducted on the basis of archival documents, statistical sources, all-Union censuses, and professional literature. In the course of the study, the methods of archival analysis, historicism, descriptive and narrative analysis were used.
