Abstract

We aimed to develop a model for summary cardiovascular risk (CVR) assessment in men aged 18-29. A total of 165 men were examined using cycling ergometry, analysis of heart rate variability (HRV) and measurement of pulse wave velocity in muscle-type arteries (PWVm). A high summary CVR was detected in 38 patients (23%). The proposed model includes such indicators as heart rate during office measurement, waist circumference, left ventricular myocardial mass index, PWVm, type of hemodynamic response to physical exercise, diastolic blood pressure morning surge obtained from ambulatory blood pressure measurement as well as index of centralization obtained from HRV analysis. The model has high sensitivity (85.7%) and specificity (89.1%).
