Abstract

The article considers the problems of the development of the means of diagnosing railway transport facilities. It is offered to widen the criteria of the classification of the system of the railways facilities diagnosing due to the influence degree upon the safety of movement and the cost savings for the current maintenance and equipment repair. Also, some key aspects and problems are emphasized which affect the optimal development of the diagnostical means: isolated development of the diagnostical means for various holdings, the necessity of diagnosing the facilities in the time of trains movement and heavy-haul and long trains, the presence of a great number of manual and visual means of diagnostics, unreliable control for the condition of the facilities. It is offered to divide all the facilities to groups according to their importance and their influence upon the safety of movement, the conditions of transportation process and the resource saving, and to set the monitoring depth and the necessary level (volume) of maintenance works for each group.
