Abstract
Background and Objectives: For successful communication, AAC users need graphic symbols that are easy to learn. This study aimed to find out how the point of view affects the recognition and preference of graphic symbols. Method: Participants in this study were 19 children aged 4-6 years who showed typical development. There were three research tests: a naming test, recognition test, and preference test for first and third person graphic symbols. After that, a dependent group t-test was conducted to investigate if there was a difference between perspective types. Results: There was no significant difference in the naming test and the preference test, but there was a significant difference in the graphic symbol recognition test. Conclusion: The study result showed a significant difference in recognition, but no significant difference in preference. Therefore, perspective is a variable that can affect graphic symbol recognition, but preference was interpreted as that perspective that does not affect preference because individual subjective opinions are included.
