Abstract

The purpose of the research is to characterise the processes occurring in the vocabulary of German dialects in Russia, taking into account the specificity of development of this variant of the German language, which takes place in a foreign-language environment. The study of lexical and semantic variation in insular German dialects made it possible to identify their specificity, trace the dynamics of language processes and note facts that are important for the dialectology and history of the German language. Scientific novelty lies in presenting the results of the dialect vocabulary research in the aspect of historical semantics, using the current dialect material and involving the corpus of dialect texts of the Altai Krai insular dialects. As a result of analysing the text corpus, the researcher proves that the development of the lexico-semantic system of insular German dialects is conditioned by the internal laws of development of the German language and its variants, as well as by language and cultural contacts.
