Abstract

the present article is a research work in the field of Saint-Petersburg studies. The subject of research is the metal decor decorating Saint-Petersburg. Maximaphily, the field of collecting, in which the main collector’s item is the maximum card, is used in the book as a method of research. The subject of research is the author’s collection of maximum cards devoted to architecture and sculpture of Saint-Petersburg. The analytical and synthetic sight at shape of the city allows to see not only harmony of the laces created by different ethnic groups of Europe, but also man-made art of a metal decor. Besides, the analysis connects them with natural fantastic displays of the vegetative nature. With practical examples of the Petersburg sights the author considers an associative array of a metal decor with various lacy patterns in detail.
