Abstract

The railway transport sector needs significant changes to achieve a European level of competitiveness. Along with the need to finance the renovation and replacement of rolling stock of the railway, the need is to replace and optimize management processes. Such shifts are already taking place in the formation of passenger companies that have the appropriate functions. However, in order to improve the service of passengers, it is necessary to introduce the operation of passenger services of innovative services. One kind of such services is rail tourism. Along with the corresponding difficulties with the financing of innovative projects, rail tourism has several advantages: the opportunity to travel in any weather, travel comfort, affordability of prices and tariffs. Therefore, for the innovative development of rail tourism, the activity of passenger companies entails a number of tasks aimed at achieving the goal of their operation, namely: providing comfortable conditions for the transportation of tourists; arranging their meals and sleeping while traveling; leisure and excursions. In the future, this will provide opportunities for additional revenues not only to passenger companies, but also to the state budget.
