Abstract

The article presents the results of an applied study of triggers for strengthening social discontent networks in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Based on the event analysis, the authors identify triggers characteristic of the activation of discontent in various clusters of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, such as social protection, housing and communal services, urban infrastructure, and the activities of authorities at various levels. Various types of digital channels are used to spread triggers of increasing social discontent, including neutral and opposition media, foreign media. The dissatisfaction aggregated in the social media space characterizes by a diffuse nature and cannot be used as a trigger for the primary protest mobilization of residents of the regions.
