Abstract
Possibilities for development of junior schoolchildren and preschool children in the course of their acquaintance with the book design art in the
 frames of additional education are revealed in this paper. The author provides the main content of teaching which allows children to understand
 the book editions’ design art development history, to remember the terms connected with bibliographic data, external elements of the book design.
