Abstract

The aim of the study was to identify the individual and personal characteristics of patients with schizophrenia, which determine the commission of violent crimes (murders, causing of grievous bodily harm in victims). The study was conducted on the basis of the psycho-neurological dispensary department No. 2 of the Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital of the Ministry of Health of the Khabarovsk Krai. As a result of comparing the individual psychological characteristics identified in the group of patients with schizophrenia, it turned out that there are statistically significant differences in personality traits in patients undergoing compulsory treatment after committed violent crimes and patients being treated due to an exacerbation of psychoproductive symptoms. The results obtained can be used to improve the system of prevention of crimes committed by patients with schizophrenia
