Abstract

SummaryAim of research: summarization of experience from world leading countries indevelopment of individual nutrition rations for servicemen and its comparison withcurrent Norms of nutrition No. 10 and No. 15 for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.Materials and methods: research publications, laws, results of own research.Methods included search of information, theoretical methods of research, questionnairesurvey, methods of comparison.Results and discussion: comparison of individual nutrition rations for servicemenof the Armed Forces from the world leading countries and approved by the ArmedForces of Ukraine Daily set of dry food (Norm No. 10) and Daily field set of food(Norm No. 15) has been carried out. Questionnaire survey filled out by servicemen ofthe Armed Forces of Ukraine about state of nutrition in the army had revealed that81.5% of servicemen assessed positively assortment of food, 74.1% liked flavor of newration (Norm No. 15).Perspectives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and food developers inimprovement of energetic and nutrient value of dry rations have been pointed out.Conclusions.1. Current norms for dry rations approved for the Armed Forces of Ukraine ascompared with individual nutrition rations of the Armed Forces of the world leadingcountries have sufficient energetic value (3500–4100 kilocalorie per day), but lack ofassortment and quality of food.2. Results of conducted questionnaire survey showed that daily field set of food(Norm No. 15) gained much more positive feedback from servicemen comparing withsuch Norm No. 10, but requires improvement of food assortment and should be suppliedwith fire-free food heaters.3. Innovation work of Ukrainian researchers and food developers as well as itspractical implementation may greatly improve nutrient quality of dry rations.
