Akunin clearly demonstrates improved author’s methods well knowns of his early works. The article analyzes B. Akunin’s controversial view of the Horde invasion of Old Russia a difficult period in its history. The writer deconstructs the chrestomatic representation of that era, depicting it from different angles: the publicist (“Part of Asia”) and the fiction (“Zvezdukha”).
