Abstract
The article examines the concept FORCE in the modern English language from the viewpoint of axiological linguistics. Originality of the study involves the reconstruction of a component of the axiological sphere expressed by this concept. The paper aims to provide the axiological description of the segment “Physical Force”. Compatibility of lexemes representing the concept FORCE is analysed and the results are for the first time interpreted from the axiological viewpoint. The findings indicate that in the axiological sphere of the English linguistic worldview, physical force has a positive axiological status but, transforming into brutal force, it acquires negative axiological connotation.
