Abstract

The article examines the “new primitive state” conception of the prominent Soviet art critic and culture expert Ieremia Ioffe. The problem of “primitive state revival” in socialist art and culture, designated by the theoretician, is considered in this work in the context of the history of the Russian religious and philosophical modernism, artistic avant-garde, art criticism historiography and western humanist thought of the XX century (Spengler, Benjamin, McLuhan). I. Ioffe’s utopic conception is estimated regarding his poststructuralist complex of ideas and the elements of “life philosophy” in his creative work.
