Abstract

Changes of the production cost indices are shown, as well as the share of all sown areas in the total volume of arable land in comparison with the generally recognized maximum level of plowing of lands in Russia, districts and indi-vidual subjects of the federation. Comparisons of production cost indexes to sales indexes and revenue indices from sales of vegetables in Russia and administrative districts are given, as well as price increases for some material and technical resources used by vegetable producers in vegetable production for 2002, 2005, 2010, 2014, 2015 are shown. The profitability of open-cut vegetable production without subsidies in Russia, districts and individual subjects of the federation in 2013-2015 is analyzed, as well as subjects of the federation providing unrelated support for 1 hectare of sowing area of vegetable crops from regional budgets in 2016 are shown. The economic evaluation of arable land degradation is due to non-replenishment of nutrients taken from the soil and the results of 70 years of stationary experiments of All-Russian Research Institute of Vegetable Growing, which allow receiving vegetable products that meet sanitary standards without reducing soil fertility. Different directions are suggested that allow increasingthe production of vegetable products.
