Abstract

In this study, a group career counseling program for college students based on planned happenstance skill was developed and its effectiveness was verified. The subjects were 6 students attending W University who participated in a planned happenstance skill-based group career counseling 10-session program (120 minutes per session), and 6 students were assigned to the control group. In order to verify the effectiveness of the planned happenstance skill program, a pre-post-follow-up test was conducted using the planned happenstance career scale and career indecision scale. The results of the study are as follows. First, after implementing the program, the planned happenstance career skills scale showed significant differences in pre-post and pre-follow-up assessments, and the career indecision scale exhibited significant differences in pre-post, post-follow-up, and pre-follow-up assessments. On the other hand, in the control group where the program was not implemented, no significant differences were observed. Second differentiated by subfactors of planned happenstance skill, when comparing pre-post and pre-follow-up assessments, significant differences were observed in curiosity, optimism, patience, and risk-taking. Third, when pre-post and pre-follow-up comparisons were made for each sub-factor of career indecision, significant differences were found in lack of job information, lack of self-Identity, and Indecisiveness in the pre-post test, while in the pre-follow-up test, lack of job information, Significant differences were found in lack of self-Identity, Indecisiveness, and external Barrier. This study holds significance in the development of a planned happenstance skill-based group career counseling program and the verification of its effectiveness.
