Abstract
Theme of the Great Patriotic War was and remains in high demand among historians. The introduction into scientific circulation of previously, unknown archival documents, the improvement of the methodological tools of research, open up new aspects in its study. Volga historians made a weighty contribution to the development of the problem. The paper attempts to consider the main directions of their work. The author comes to the conclusion that they are dominated by regional themes.

Великая Отечественная война всегда интересовала поволжских историков. 75-летний юбилей Победы советского народа, вновь, актуализировал эту тему. Пензенские историки в капитальной коллективной монографии «Пензенский край в истории и культуре России» представили материалы, посвященные вкладу Пензенской области в победу над врагом в годы Великой Отечественной войны. Предметом его исследовательского интереса стало хозяйство городов Среднего Поволжья в годы Великой Отечественной войны [12; 13]. Помощь тыла фронту – тема, берущая свое начало еще в советской историографии Великой Отечественной войны.
