This study was a meta-analysis designed to identify effects of pilates interventions in alleviating main symptoms of adult with low back pain among in Korea. Four databases, namely, Research information sharing service, National digital science library, Data base periodical information academic and E-article, were used to collect articles. Keywords such as “Pilates,” and “Low back pain” were used in the search for published articles. Consequently, eight studies were selected in the second screening using meta-analyses. A large effect size [-3.62(95% CI: -5.09 ~ -2.15)] was shown when comparing pilates with other exercises. A large effect size [-3.06(95% CI: -4.35 ~ -1.78)] was shown when comparing pilates with non-exercise controls. But all heterogeneity was high. Based on these findings, there is evidence that pilates intervention has significant positive effects on the main symptoms of adult with low back pain. However, more studies and large-scale sample randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm clinical application.
