Abstract

Christianity entered Korea in the late 19th century and contributed to the foundation of a modern country. However, the influx of Western Christianity internalized West-centralism under the influence of Western modernization, disregarding Korea’s indigenous traditions and culture, and hindering independent modernization. Similarly, in missiology, rather than establishing Korean missiology, Western-centered missiology dominated the academic world. Therefore, in this study, four discourses were dealt to overcome West-centralism. The four types of discourses were divided; assimilative, reverse, syncretic, and deconstructive. Mission theological models were explored as well. In addition, the possibility of Korean missiology was examined by analyzing the papers of Korean theologians published in Mission Theology.
