Abstract
The article dwells upon the analysis of political and ideological self-identifications of the Ukrainian students as the subject of politics; the interdependence of these processes and formation of future professionals’ interest in politics; relevant civil position; certain political attitudes and actions. Article is based on the research results conducted among the Ukrainian students by staff of Sociology department of the V.N.Karazin Kharkiv National University in 2001-2002 and 2008-2009. The analysis of political and ideological self-identifications dynamics of the students suggests that the project of building an independent national state based on democratic principles, actualized in the minds of young people the national-democratic ideological values; at the same time the increasing number of supporters of the left direction can testify about the growth of social discontent and, accordingly, the protest potential of students.
