Abstract

The article discusses the possibilities, technology and importance of the Socratic method implementation in Socratic seminars organization. As a philosophical and theoretical foundation, the authors analyse the general features of the Socratic method, which is characterized by a variety associated with the complication of its historical forms. The comparison of the Socratic method with the scientific method of cognition is also illustrated. The main points of Socratic pedagogy, founded on controlled dialogues and active forms of education, constitute the basis of subsequent discussions about Socratic seminars. The technology of Socratic seminars organization in higher education, their levels of complexity and importance in the formation of academic and social skills are revealed.
