Abstract
The purpose of the work is comparative analysis of the leisure practices of urban and rural youth in the Orel region. The basis of the work was the results of an empirical sociological study conducted among young people on this issue, as well as a secondary analysis of the 2021 regional study. The study analyzes the forms and types of leisure of the younger generation. The degree of satisfaction of urban and rural youth with cultural and leisure places of the Orel region is determined. It is shown that the majority of young people are used to organizing their leisure time on their own. On the one hand, this process is influenced by the values and interests of youth, and on the other hand, leisure practices are limited by the objective possibilities provided by the surrounding spatial environment. As a result, it is summarized that the efficiency of organizing youth’s free time in modern conditions of modernization and geopolitical turbulence will contribute to the self-realization and socialization of young citizens, social filiation and ensuring national security.
