Abstract

This study would empirically analyze the impacts of the experience of participation in a belly dance competition on the participants’ dance adherence. In addition, this study would verify if the participants’ self-efficacy would have a mediating effect on their dance adherence. Concerning this, this study completed an effective sampling of 132 participants in the 12th Korean Cup Belly Dance Competition.BR The following specific analysis results are presented, using SPSS 25 statistical analysis software based on the collected data. First, the experience of participation in the belly dance competition had a statistically significant positive (+) impact on the participants’ self-efficacy. Second, the experience of participation in the belly dance competition had a statistically significant positive (+) impact on the participants’ dance adherence. Third, the self-efficacy of the participants in the belly dance competition had a statistically significant positive (+) impact on their dance adherence. Fourth, in the path from the participating experience of participants in the belly dance competition through their self-efficacy to dance adherence, self-efficacy had a mediating effect. In other words, the experience of the participants’ belly dance participation increases their self-efficacy and dance adherence intention as well.
