Abstract

Introduction. Aggravation of internal and external security challenges in our country attracted civil and scientific communities attention to activity of the military, its proper logistics and psychological support. An integral component of modern military units training and task execution in all directions is a psychological accompaniment. Nowdays the amount of empirical research and their theoretical and methodological generalization is insufficient for purposeful and grounded work on image formation within the professional competencies of the military psychologist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The lack of the general conceptual approach to understanding the essence and content of the serviceman image, the imbalance of social ideals and values in society makes it difficult to develop technologies of professional self-presentation and to create the image of a psychologist-officer.Purpose. The purpose of this publication is to show the results of the research of image-building characteristics in the process of professional training of the military psychologists.Methods. Three groups (sample) of the military psychologists, which have different levels of professional experience and image-building characteristics, took part in the research held in winter 2019:1) cadets of the first and the second year which are on the full-time and extramural form of study on specialty "Military psychology" (55 persons ), 2) bachelors and masters of the military faculty (43 persons), 3) the UAF unit ofiicers-psychologists with 5-28 years of service (36 people). Such means were used to research the formation of the image characteristics in process of professional training: -The questionnaire for the military-professional tendency research (V. P. Petrov), designed to estimate the propensity for the basic military positions; -Express - test of communication control diagnosis (M. Schneider) [15]. -S. S. Bubnova's personal value orientation structure diagnosis methology, designed to determine the personal values realization under the real life circumstances [3].-Milton Rokeach's values orientation examination methology, adapted by D. Leontiev[9].-Theodor Ehlers's success achievement motivation diagnosis methology [15].Originality. It’s obviously that prestige characteristics of military physiologist are distinguished by its own features. These depend on military professional responsibilities which are completely different from civilian. If the psychologist-consultant’s prestige is the factor of client confidence, the main goal of prestige creation in military and security services is setting an emotional and psychological influence on personnel. The effectiveness components of officers’ prestige image are not discovered yet.Conclusion. The results showed that while studying at higher military educational institutions, future specialists-psychologists undergo certain transformations of substantial personal characteristics that make up the elements of their professional image. Psychologists-officers eventually functioning as an integral part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine specify their personal and professional orientation, review important, valuable guidelines, form a communicative control and confidence in their ability to achieve success. It would be useful to introduce a curriculum of higher military educational institutions on image development to the cadets' training program. According to the received data, the areas of purposeful influence concerning the development of professional qualities and image characteristics of a psychologist officer have been formed. These are a clear professional orientation (understanding of your role in this field), the most optimal communicative control, humanistic-oriented profile of axiological ideals, and instrumental values that meet the standards of military service as well as the optimal success motivation to failure protection ratio. Among the outlook of further research, we find a need for development and approbation of curriculum that explains the theoretical basis and implements practical technologies of image development in higher military educational institutions.
