Abstract

The article considers the formation of the aircraft engine industry in Ukraine in the second decade of the twentieth century. The activity of aviation pioneers in the development of aircraft engines of their own design is considered. Particular attention is drawn to attempts to establish a serial production of aircraft engines, undertaken during the First World War by the companies «Deka» and «Anatra». It was noted that, despite very significant investments, these plans could not be realized.
