Abstract

Songgye Shin Gye-seong is often referred to as the 'A respectable friend(畏友)' of the Nammyung Jo-sig. Songgye is a descendant of Chungbonggol, a loyalist of the Goryeo Dynasty, who is based in Pyeongsan, and was born in Sapori Milyang Province, and finished his life as a 64-year-old diary. However, Song 's works have not received much attention in the field of literature, history, or philosophy. However, in the field of history, it is only mentioned for a while in the process of reviewing the academic field of the Young-nam area of Joseon and mentioning the academic aspect of the Nammyung Jo-sig. In this regard, it can be inferred that the position of Song-gye is not easily overlooked in academia because it is mentioned together with Nammyung, representing a part of Young-nam area. From the geographical viewpoint of society and culture, the area of Miryang was already an agricultural area with irrigation facilities such as susanje(守山堤) along with Kimje's byeoggolje(碧骨堤) and Jecheon's uilimji(義林池) in the age of Samhan. In addition to the operation of the Nakdong river, Youngnam Roo, located at the base of Youngnam Highway(嶺南大 路), proved to be one of the three major pavilions of the Joseon Dynasty. Based on such a regional basis, the appearance of a character such as Songgye, who gains the grandeur of Sarim(士林) following Byeon Gye-lyang and Kim Jong-jig, seems natural at first glance. Nevertheless, the facial features and academic aspects of Songgye do not come to mind as easily as those of Chunjung and Jumphiljae. However, when referring to Dong-go Lee Jun-kyung, and Geum-gye Hwang Jun-lyang, who have been in the prime minister during the Myeongjong period, including Nammyong, I do not think so. It is in the point that Songgye was referred to Nam Myeong, Huang-kang Lee Hee-an, as Yongjungsanggo(嶺中三高). This paper examines the process of the Song-gye of the later generations from the process of settlement of the Song-gye family in Miryang and seeks to elucidate his status in the Yeongnam area.
