Abstract

To understand the process of language consciousness formation in children with intellectual disabilities, the results of an associative experiment are involved, which is carried out based on the material of abstract vocabulary. When conducting an experimental study, there is a need to highlight a summarized lexicographic definition. In this regard, the work aims to prove the legitimacy of highlighting a summarized lexicographic definition when conducting a psycholinguistic experiment with children with mild mental retardation. The scientific novelty of the study lies in justifying the need for a summarized lexicographic word definition when conducting an associative experiment with children with mild mental retardation. As a result, it has been proved that a summarized lexicographic definition implies a more generalized, expanded set of meanings of one word from different lexicographic sources. In turn, in order to carry out a more accurate analysis of the verbal associations the word stimuli for which are abstract nouns of children with intellectual disabilities, it is necessary to divide a summarized lexicographic definition into nuclear (basic) and peripheral meanings.
