Abstract

We consider in a comparative perspective the strategies of the United States, Russia, China, Turkey, Iran, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the European Union in Central Asia to promote languages. We present the institutions and measures undertaken to promote world lan-guages in the region. This complex analysis allows us to conclude that the competition between the leading countries for the expansion of linguistic and cultural presence in Central Asia is deter-mined by geopolitical, economic and cultural-historical factors, adjusting to the changing global and regional situation
