Abstract

In this study, changes in the formative characteristics of dandy fashion were analyzed by era, and changes in the meaning of dandy were derived. The research scope was based on photos and texts in 545 articles from 1893 to 2021, when data began to appear due to keyword searches for. The study found that the formative elements of dandy fashion are mainly a standing collar, a narrow waist, a high neck cravat, and a waistcoat. In, black and white were the most frequently mentioned colors of dandy fashion, and cashmere, cotton, linen, and velvet were mainly used as materials. In modern fashion, dandy applies not only to attire or objects but also to behavioral patterns, such as being picky and slim, new products, convenience, convenient functionality, and descriptions of things. As such, it can be inferred that the dandy style in modern fashion remains relevant because its image is constantly changing and reflecting the times.
