Abstract

For an electric scroll compressor of mobile heat pump system, numerical analysis have been carried out for performance enhancement by gas injection. Optimum injection pressure is determined by balancing between vapor production rate in a flash tank downstream of the first expansion valve and vapor reception rate in a compression chamber of the scroll. For standard heating condition of TSUBe/SUB = -10.07℃ and TSUBc/SUB = 62.89℃, heating capacity and COP increase by 31.2% and 8.93%, respectively through vapor injection. Performance enhancement by vapor injection becomes greater with lower evaporating temperature and higher condensing temperature. For chamber type injection structure where injection passage length from injection chamber to compression chamber is reduced, further performance increase can be obtained by vapor injection : 1~7%P more in the capacity and 0.4~6.6%P more in COP.
