Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of adolescent’s perception of local environment(social disorder, social informal control and community attachment) on fear of school violence. A total of 464 responses was analyzed. The results showed that perception on social disorder is significantly positively related to fear of school violence regardless of school grade. Social informal control is negatively related to fear of school violence for only high school students. Regarding the relation between community attachment and fear of school violence, different pattern appears for elementary and high school students. The study implies the necessity of adopting a different administrative approach on school violence prevention and invention with consideration on age or school grade.
