Abstract
Corpus-based studies of phrasal verbs have pointed to different features of phrasal verbs. The aim of this research is to compare phrasal verbs functioning in different varieties of the English language – the varieties from the Inner Circle and the varieties from the Expanding Circle. For this purpose, the corpus data are used. Statistical analysis is carried out with the help of R software environment for statistical computing. The results show that phrasal verbs are used less frequently in the Russian corpus in comparison with native (British and American) corpora. Besides, it is found out that some phrasal verbs are used in the Russian corpus differently from native corpora.
