Abstract
As a result of long-term studying of monuments of a forest-steppe zone of the Altai Krai, eight constructions of the Early Bronze Period have been revealed and dug out: four dwellings on the Elunino settlement Berezovaya Luka, three constructions on the multilayered settlement of Kostenkova Izbushka and one Elunino construction on the Borovoe III settlement. In this article these constructions are considered from the point of view of detection of important design features of the constructions demonstrating house-building traditions of the population of the Early Bronze Age of forest-steppe Altai. The authors analyze the basic elements of constructions which are objectively fixed at the excavation: the form, the size and degree of depth of ditches, existence, the sizes and system of an arrangement of column’s holes in the pits and beyond their limits. As a result of the conducted research it is found out that: 1) in the studied time for territories of the region there were land single-chamber constructions of subrectangular, subsquare, or suboval forms; 2) there are constructions of large (dwellings No. 1 and No. 2 on the settlement Berezovaya Luka), average (the dwelling No. 3 and No. 4 of the settlement Berezovaya Luka and, probably, Kostenkova Izbushka constructions) and small (Borovoe III) sizes. In some cases it is possible to claim about the use of columns as a basis of the framework.
