Abstract

Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of flipped learning on critical thinking ability, communication ability and problem solving ability of nursing students.
 Methods The subjects of this study were 91 nursing students from S University in Jeonnam. Data were collected at the first time of the first semester of the first semester on March 2, 2022, and the post-survey was conducted at the last time on June 8, 2022, after the end of the class., The collected data were statistically processed using SPSS Windows 20.0 Program.
 Results Flip-learning class was found to have statistically significant effects on critical thinking ability, communication ability, and problem solving ability of nursing college students., As a result of analyzing the sub-area of each variable, critical thinking ability showed significant effect in sound skepticism, systemicity, intellectual acuity, and confidence, but there was no statistically significant difference in fairness, objectivity, and prudence., Problem solving ability was found to have significant effects on open thinking, recognition and judgment, alternative evaluation and decision.
 Conclusions This study is meaningful in that it applied the flipped learning teaching method which is emerging recently to the curriculum and verified its effect. In the future, it is necessary to apply such teaching and learning method considering the curriculum of various environments and the level of students, and to investigate the effect accordingly and to add a wide range of variables.
