Abstract
The paper presents a systematic review of mythonymy research in Turkic linguistic folklore studies. The aim of the work is to determine the theoretical and methodological aspects of the traditional culture of mythological representations in Turkic linguistic folklore studies. The paper provides an overview of the existing methodologies for studying mythonyms in Turkology and presents the authors’ vision of scientific research methods. The scientific novelty of the work lies in describing a set of scientific approaches, methods and technologies for studying mythonymy. The results showed that there are two areas in mythonymy research: ethnolinguistic and comparative. As a result, it was proved that Turkic mythonymy has a fairly rich research and source base, which has developed as a consequence of many years of research into the ethno-cultural space of the mythonymic system in Bashkir, Chuvash, Azerbaijani, Tatar linguistic folklore. However, the work showed that Turkic mythonymy seems incomplete without comparative analysis in an interdisciplinary aspect. There are gaps in the study of mythonyms in the aspect of comparison with other Turkic systems, which, in fact, made it necessary to write this paper.
