Abstract

The article introduces an algorithm to develop metaphorical competence in the Masters of Political Science and Regional Studies. Taking into account the complicated nature of metaphor, its manipulative potential and a considerable amount of metaphorical terminological combinations functioning in political communication the authors consider it relevant and reasonable to include metaphor in the curriculum of the professional English language. The relevance of the paper is determined by the lack of studies proposing practical recommendations on the formation and development of metaphorical competence.
