Abstract

This paper is intended to examine the new normal education triggered by COVID-19 in connection with the direction and future skills of education during the 4th Industrial Revolution, and to discuss the form of HanMun(漢文) subject and textbooks. The education required by the 4th Industrial Revolution has a completely different goal from the education formed after modern times. If pre-modern education was education to foster a few elites, or vocational education based on ones demand, modern education had the goal of “cultivating quality labor” or “normal ability to acquire above-average knowledge and to perform production and consumption at the same time.” On the other hand, the human beings required by the 4th Industrial Revolution are “human beings who can lead to changes in society through individual roles with the capabilities necessary for self-directed recognition, identification, and resolution of various problems in reality.” HanMun(漢文) education is liberal arts education, and it refers to an act that seeks and inherits the educational values and ideals necessary for the society and becomes the driving force for future development along with the identity of society. And society has changed again and is demanding a new form of education, centered on and tailored to learners. To respond to these demands, this paper discussed future HanMun(漢文) subject research from three perspectives: fierce debate on the direction of future human resources education aimed at HanMun(漢文) subject, transition to consumer-centered customized education, and choice and concentration in the composition and content of HanMun(漢文) subject.
