The article deals with the history of studying the cycle-forming principles of “Poems in prose” written by I. В западноевропейских исследованиях большинство учёных сходятся во мнении, что циклом можно назвать такое объединение миниатюр, при котором каждая миниатюра, с одной стороны, сохраняет свою независимость, а с другой – обогащается новыми смыслами, возникающими в ходе прочтения цикла [11, с. Тем не менее это была первая попытка систематизации миниатюр, которая во многом предполагала прочтение цикла в соответствии с напутствием автора.
