Abstract

The article attempts to reconstruct the historical memory of the masdar-forming formants of the Avar language in comparative interpretation. It is stated that masdar-forming affixes historically have the meaning of gnomic being. These word-formative components are attached to both verbal and nominal bases. Arguments are given in favor of two masdars in the Avar language - the verbal and the nominal ones. The reconstruction of the historical memory of the masdar-forming formants of the Avar language is carried out by comparing these morphemes with both the dialectal data of the Avar language itself and in correlation with the materials of other Dagestani languages.
